Appearance: Made of metal, the face of the cat is on one side of the glass door, the tail is on the other.
Origins: The University of York commissioned the late Austin Wright to create this sculpture for a door handle on a new building. It cost £75, much to the consternation of campus paper Nouse. For more information, see the article from the Evening Press in 14th February 1975.
Companions: None, unless you count the students! Another sculpture by Austin Wright, called “The Tears of St Lawrence”, is on top of the nearby computer suite building at St Lawrence Court.
